Blue Banded Bees are amongst Australia's most beautiful native bees.
Approximately 11mm long, they have bands of metallic blue fur across their black abdomens. They are highly skilled pollinators, performing a style of "buzz pollination" which forces flowers to release pollen from tiny capsules.
In fact, some flowers such as Senna require buzz pollination.
